Scrub Balance Board

Balance boards were originally developed as a physiotherapy tool, but are now becoming increasingly popular as a training aid for extreme sports enthusiasts.

Balance is an essential part of any sport, and use of a balance board helps to strengthen muscles, improve balance, coordination, posture and fitness.

Balance boards are ideal for anyone involved in board sports, from beginners just starting out in their chosen sport through to experienced riders wanting to improve their balance techniques. For sports such as skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing and wakeboarding, use of a balance board also means tricks can be practised out of season and also, in the home.

Balance boards can be a great training aid for kids too, providing hours of fun while at the same time, developing their coordination and balance skills.

A balance board consists of a wooden deck and a cylindrical roller which fits underneath. The idea is to balance the board on top of the roller, and as proficiency improves so the rider will be able to perform more complex exercises and manoeuvers.
At first it is better to use a balance board either indoors on a carpeted area or if outdoors, on grass, as the softer the surface, the easier to use. Bare floors or hard surfaces will prove much more challenging!!

As with all extreme sports activities, we advise using protective gear (helmet, wrist guards, knee pads, elbow pads) when using a balance board.
